Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano® Welcomes a Sweet Addition

What’s sweeter and more succulent than a San Marzano tomato? Leave it to what culinary enthusiasts are now calling her miniature twin – the Italian Datterini or “Little Date” Tomato. Relatively new to the U.S. marketplace, Mangia, Inc.™, the manufacturer and importer of Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano® Italian Tomatoes, whose mission is to share authentic, quality ingredients with North America from Italy, is pleased to announce the addition of this sweet, coveted little beauty to its product catalog. Now introducing – Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano Italian Petite Peeled Date Tomatoes (aka the Datterini)!

Fresh on the scene, Carmelina’s mini “San Marzano-like” pomodori are sure to amaze and sweeten the gastronomic pot. Appropriately named, “little dates,” Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano Italian Peeled Datterini are known for their sweet flavor, welcoming aroma and elongated shape. They have fewer seeds than the average tomato, and a meaty flesh. Perfect for serving right out of the can with Burrata, olive oil and fresh basil, or blended into an incredibly sweet and delicious tomato sauce for pizza or pasta.

True to the brand, Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano Italian Peeled Datterini are steam peeled, packed in their own flavorful puree, and preserved fresh without additives like calcium chloride of citric acid. They are also low-sodium, gluten-free, and Non-GMO.

Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano Italian Petite Peeled Datterini will be available nationwide beginning mid-November 2014 in both retail (14.28 ounces) and foodservice (91 ounces) can sizes. Products are available through foodservice and retail distributors.
